Parish Solicitation
The
main phase of the Appeal takes place during the annual collection
each May. You may make a contribution through your parish at that
time commencing on Appeal Sunday (the first Sunday in May). Parishioners
will receive a mailer including a brochure and return envelope directly
to their respective parish. Each parish is considered a separate
entity and has the authority to deposit parishioners’ donations.
In turn, when the Parish Solicitation phase is complete, parishes
issue one lump sum check in the amount collected to the Catholic
Charities Appeal office.
United Way
In
the fall, local United Ways solicit individuals at their place of
employment. While these campaigns operate independently of the Catholic
Charities Appeal, employees can designate gifts to the Appeal or
the Catholic Federation of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Donor Choice Codes for the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania*:
• Catholic
Charities Appeal – 00233
• Catholic
Federation of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia – 00015
*If
you give through another United Way, such as the United Way of Chester
County, Delaware, etc., contact your local United Way or the appeal
office for the correct donor choice number.
Please
note: The United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania changed the layout
of their Campaign Pledge Form. To designate the Appeal or the Catholic
Federation as the recipient of your gift, you will need to fill
out the “Original Section: Specific Agencies” section
on the reverse side of your Campaign Pledge Form. Make sure the
appropriate code appears on all three copies of the Pledge Form.
Employee Combined Campaigns
Aside
from the United Way, some employers conduct their own employee giving
campaign and solicit at the place of employment. Examples include
the Combined Federal Campaign, the State of Pennsylvania’s
Employee Combined Appeal (SECA), the City of Philadelphia Employees’
Combined Campaign, etc. Again, these campaigns operate independently
of the Catholic Charities Appeal, yet employees can often designate
the Appeal as a recipient.
Please
consult your contributor’s guide for the appropriate code
for your employee campaign. If you have any questions, you can also
contact the Appeal office at 215.587.3651.
